Position Overview

95.5 WSB Atlanta Radio is looking for its next Reporter/Anchor to join our award-winning team. This seasoned journalist will be responsible for in-house reporting, writing stories, anchoring newscasts and live coverage of breaking news. The right candidate must be a high energy communicator who can enterprise stories, interview newsmakers and eyewitnesses to events, and have strong writing and storytelling skills to help engage a new generation of listeners. Our next reporter/anchor must know how to manage tight deadlines, work independently on copy and successfully execute on the direction provided by either a producer or news director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Writes news stories that are clear, accurate and unbiased
• Delivers news copy on air with a conversational and engaging delivery
• Ability to develop and effectively pitch local story ideas
• Conducts live and/or taped interviews
• Anchors live coverage of breaking news and/or special coverage
• Adept at using social media to gather and break stories.
• Is current on local, national, and international stories
• Can comprehend complex material and turn it into easily understood copy under deadline pressure
• Experience with news software such as Newsboss or Burli

Minimum Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
• 3 years of anchoring or reporting experience.
• Extensive on-air background.
• Effective writing and editorial skills
• Ability to narrate, ad-lib and add value to live breaking news and severe weather coverage
• An idea-generating journalist with a positive attitude and a standout work ethic
• Able to work a schedule that includes holidays and non-traditional work hours
