Building Systems Maintenance Specialist

A day in the life

You start the morning walking the facility, listening for the hum of well‑tuned equipment. A thermostat gets recalibrated, a flickering light is replaced, and a work order pings for an A/V setup before an afternoon event. By midday you’re coordinating with a vendor on a small electrical repair, and later you log inspections and schedule next week’s preventive tasks. When the unexpected happens, you’re the calm, capable pro who keeps the building safe, efficient, and compliant.

What you’ll do

• Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Tackle general facility repairs including painting, basic carpentry, lighting fixes, furniture assembly, and minor build‑outs.
• Pitch in with custodial and grounds support when needed.
• Assist with event setup/teardown and provide A/V support.
• Monitor building systems and quickly respond to service tickets and work orders.
• Partner with outside vendors and contractors to complete repairs and installations.
• Document maintenance activities, inspections, and findings with accuracy.

What you bring

• Working knowledge of core building trades: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Skill in diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
• Awareness of safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Clear communication, solid organization, and follow‑through.
• Physical ability to lift, climb, and perform hands‑on tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.

Where you’ll work

• Indoor and outdoor areas across the facility.
• Occasional evening or weekend coverage for emergencies or events.
• Regular use of tools, ladders, and appropriate safety gear.
