Job Description and Duties

This job posting is for a Career Executive Assignment (CEA) examination. The CEA examination uses an alternative examination and selection process for filling specified positions.

This examination requires applicants to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) which must include responses and specific examples related to the Desirable Qualifications listed. This position is located in Sacramento with part-time telework available. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, Administrative Services Division (ASD), the Chief, Facilities Operations Branch serves as the senior project administrator for major construction projects, strategic planning for future facilities and infrastructure needs, and development of funding alternatives.

This position may be subject to allocation approval by the Human Resources Branch and/or Department of Finance approval.

1. Describe your knowledge of and experience with the principles and practices of managing lifecycle activities of a facilities portfolio for a state department or a large organization, including asset acquisition, maintenance, operation, and asset retirement.

2. Describe your demonstrated ability to provide consultative services to executive level staff and garner support from executive level staff for projects.

3. Describe your experience in developing and revising policies; and your experience in aligning policies, procedures, and activities with organizational or strategic goals.

4. Describe your knowledge of the State of California laws, regulations, and policies related to real property assets; and your experience interacting with regulatory or oversight bodies in this area.

5. Describe your experience in personnel management which demonstrates your ability to plan, organize, and direct staff, including training and development, staff motivation and recognition, and performance management.

6. Describe your leadership experience, including your demonstrated ability to create a clear vision, set and achieve goals, and encourage teamwork and initiative.

Eligible List Information

The results of this examination will be used only to fill the position of  CEA B, Chief, Facilities Operations Branch, Administrative Services Division with the Department of Motor Vehicles and may be used to fill subsequent vacancies for this position for a period of up to 12 months. Examination/Employment Applications (STD. 678) and Statement of Qualifications will be retained for 12 months. The Department of Motor Vehicles may elect to consider new applicants in addition to those previously screened.
