Role Purpose Statement

As a Dispatcher at LSG SkyChefs, your primary purpose is to ensure the smooth and efficient coordination of ground transportation operations to support the timely delivery of airline catering and other related services. You play a vital role in orchestrating the movement of vehicles, personnel, and resources to meet the demands of our airline clients, while adhering to safety protocols and delivering exceptional service.

Main Accountabilities

  1. Transportation Coordination:
    • Receive and analyze transport requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
    • Efficiently schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles, and equipment based on operational needs and customer requirements.
    • Monitor the progress of deliveries, making adjustments as necessary to maintain on-time performance and optimize efficiency.
  2. Route Planning and Optimization:
    • Plan and optimize delivery routes to minimize travel time, fuel consumption, and operational costs.
    • Consider factors such as traffic conditions, airline schedules, and customer preferences while maximizing resource utilization.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve routing strategies to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
  3. Communication and Customer Service:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, airline representatives, and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate delivery instructions, special requests, and changes in schedules or circumstances in a clear and timely manner.
    • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience for all parties involved.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
    • Monitor driver performance, adherence to traffic rules, and compliance with established procedures.
    • Promote a culture of safety and awareness among drivers, fostering a proactive approach to prevent accidents and minimize risks.
  5. Data Management and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to transport operations, including delivery schedules, driver logs, and incident reports.
    • Generate reports and analyze data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and propose process improvements.
    • Utilize technology tools and systems to capture and track relevant information efficiently.
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with other departments, such as logistics, catering, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless coordination and operational excellence.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting effective teamwork and communication among drivers and support staff.
    • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, sharing ideas and best practices to enhance overall operational efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
    • Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role, preferably in the aviation or catering industry.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing circumstances.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and other relevant technology tools.
    • Knowledge of transportation regulations, road safety, and best practices in logistics and routing.
