We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Lagging department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for one   Insulator. 

Shift : 6:00 AM to 2:45 PM

Security Clearance : No Clearance

GUIDELINES FOR INSULATION MECHANIC

*Selected candidates will need to take  Mold Remediation Class*

JOURNEYPERSON 4 (INSULATION MECHANIC)

• Must meet all Journeyman 3 Insulation Mechanical requirements.
• Must be able to read and interpret Insulation drawings, layout, and install.
• Must be able to design and fabricate lagging pads.
• Must be able to install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.
• Must be able fabricate miters out of calcium silicate.
• Must be able to install calcium silicate and fabricated miters on properly.

JOURNEYPERSON 3 (INSULATION MECHANIC)

• Must meet all Journeyman 2 Insulation Mechanical requirements.
• Assist with close supervision in reading and interpreting Insulation drawings.
• Assist Journeyman 4 mechanic in designing and fabricating lagging pads.
• Must be able to install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems ,and engine exhaust systems.
• Assist Journeyman 4 mechanic in designing and fabricating miters out of calcium silicate.
• Must know standard items (009-11, 009-23, 009-10)
• Must be able to install calcium silicate different size steam systems properly.
• Must be able to apply finishing cement on calcium silicate seams.

JOURNEYPERSON 2 (INSULATION MECHANIC)

• Must meet all Journeyman 1 Insulation Mechanical requirements.
• Must be able to layout overhead and bulkheads structures using 1” inch and 2” inch waffle back studs properly.
• Must be able to install sheet rubber, tube rubber, and fiber glass pipe covering on steam, and chill water systems.
• Assist Journeyman mechanics 3 or 4 on installing calcium silicate steam systems properly.
• Assist Journeyman mechanics 3 or 4 on applying finishing cement on calcium silicate.
• Must have the knowledge of the material to reinstall on the job.
• Assist Journeyman mechanics 3 or 4 on installing pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.

JOURNEYPERSON 1 (INSULATION MECHANIC)

• Understand ship Nomenclature - Describe compartment listings, identify locations, navigate vessel.
• Excellent knowledge on reading a tape measure and ability to use basic insulation tools appropriately such as knifes, scissors, wire twist pliers, hog ring pliers, and snips.
• Assist in laying out overhead and bulkhead structures properly.
• Assist on installing sheet rubber, tube rubber, and fiber glass pipe covering on steam, and chill water systems.
• Must have the knowledge of correct material to install on jobs.
• Must be able to install fiber glass cloth on any piping systems, ventilation ducting, and engine systems.
• Must be able to tape out hull board seams on overhead and bulkhead structures properly using different size fiber glass tape.
• Must be able to install hull board of different size thickness on any ship structures properly.
• Must be able to fabricate and install box beams and wraps on ship structures.
• Must be able to perform job safely.
• Must know what personal protective equipment to use and when. (PPE)
