The salary range for this position is $50,838 - $56,544.  New hires typically start within this range based on their qualifications, experience, and considerations of internal equity.

FIRST headquarters is in Manchester, New Hampshire, and we seek candidates based in New England or willing to relocate to New England as this is an on-site role.

What You Will Do
In this role you will build, assemble, inspect, and maintain competition field components and related materials used at competitions and events. Additionally, you will:

  • Maintain accurate inventory of materials and road cases used for building, repairing, and transporting competition fields.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure on-time shipment of field components, including assisting with truck loading and unloading.
  • Provide on-site field support during the competition season.
  • Support safe operations by consistently using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and contributing to an accident-free workplace.
  • Assist the engineering team with reviewing and updating process and procedure manuals.
  • Maintain organized records of procedure manuals, including archiving older versions.


What We Expect
A reliable, safety-minded technician who brings mechanical know-how, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit to ensure our competition fields are event-ready and well maintained.   We are also seeking candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Generally, requires 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail, timeliness, and accuracy in documentation.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT medical certificate.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no recent major violations disqualifying commercial vehicle operation.
  • Flexibility to travel 15 - 20% depending on the time of the year.
