Position Overview:

The PLC Controls Engineer will provide second-level technical expertise in PLC-based troubleshooting, controls hardware, and wiring to support new production line installations. Working under the direction of a Senior Controls Engineer, this role will focus on implementing improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reliability, and safety. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on electrical and controls experience, with solid knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Rockwell systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 2nd-level technical support for PLC-controlled systems, including troubleshooting, wiring, and hardware integration.
• Support new production line installations and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on controls system design, testing, and validation.
• Participate in all phases of project execution, including design, fabrication, off-line integration, installation, and production start-up.
• Conduct system diagnostics and perform root cause analysis for electrical and controls issues.
• Assist with equipment layout, controls wiring, and documentation updates.
• Train plant personnel on basic operation and maintenance of control systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and performance.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred), HMIs, drives, and safety systems.
• Strong understanding of controls hardware, wiring, and troubleshooting - electrical aptitude required.
• Solid foundation in structured programming and system integration, with emphasis on hardware implementation.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment supporting automation systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on project assignments with minimal supervision.

Education

• Associate degree (AAS) or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field preferred.
• Additional 3 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education (for a total of 10 years).
