D eveloping plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care
S erving as consultants with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors
P roviding health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings
M onitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety
O verseeing infection control measures
A ctively participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school
O verseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans
O verseeing vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening procedures
M aking decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance
P roviding health advice to school educational teams
A ssisting families with locating outside care and obtaining health insurance
O ther duties as assigned.
Qualifications:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
G raduation from NLN accredited school of nursing.
R egistered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Michigan.
B LS certification required.
A ttends unit conferences, in-service programs and continuing education activities to meet the organization’s expectations.
M inimum of one year of acute care nursing experience preferred
N ational Certified School Nurse credential preferred
K NOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
C omputer competency, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
E xcellent oral and written communication skills.
M ust be able to work well with the public and able to be tactful in often hectic and stressful situations.
C linical nursing skills.
S ound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material.
