About Locum Orthopedic Surgeon Jobs:

General Job Responsibilities:  

  • Provide expert care for patients with injuries and disorders affecting bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. 
  • Conduct a wide range of orthopedic surgeries, including fracture repair, joint replacement, arthroscopy and soft tissue repair. 
  • Provide emergency care for traumatic injuries requiring immediate surgical intervention. 
  • Manage conditions through non-invasive techniques, such as medication or physical therapy, when appropriate. 
  • Provide patient education about conditions, treatment options and post-care management strategies. 
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans. 
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.

Skills:  

  • Proficient in performing a variety of both minimally invasive and complex orthopedic procedures. 
  • Ability to assess and diagnose musculoskeletal issues accurately and develop appropriate treatment plans. 
  • Capability to make quick, informed decisions during surgery and in emergency situations. 
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex medical information to patients. 
  • Excellent manual dexterity and precision. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.

Minimum Education Requirements:  

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. 
  • Residency training program in orthopedic surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

License & Certifications:  

  • Board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). 
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Oregon.

Experience:  

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum orthopedic surgeon positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
