DFS specializes in two main loan products: short-term bridge loans for fix & flip investors and long-term rental loans for landlords building their rental portfolios. - Safeguard DFS against risk by ensuring underwriting accuracy and adherence to company standards.
- Help maintain DFS’s reputation as an industry leader by supporting high loan quality, efficient closings, and exceptional client outcomes.
In This Role You Will: - Analyze single-family residential real estate transactions.
- Assess construction and rehabilitation budgets.
- Provide structured feedback to AI tools on transaction risk factors and decision rationale to improve automated Underwriting.
- Prepare detailed financial analyses and investment summaries.
- Review AI-generated analytics for accuracy, ensuring the system learns to align with DFS standards and investment philosophy.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Adapt to changing company strategies and processes.
Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years as a Mortgage Underwriter with demonstrated ability to manage complex underwriting scenarios.
- Strong experience underwriting Non-QM products (bank statement, asset depletion, DSCR, 1099, and P&L loans).
- Comfort working with evolving AI tools.
- Expert understanding of both Agency and Non-QM lending guidelines and compliance requirements.
- Critical thinking and adaptability in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong Excel and Word skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications: - Proficiency with mortgage software systems, including Encompass and Mavent
- Comfort working with evolving AI tools.
- Experience training AI models.
- MLS/CoStar experience.
- Highly analytical with strong quantitative skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Focused and self-motivated.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction and rehabbing.
