1. Cultural Exchange and Study Schemes
Do some research into the sorts of study opportunities that your university offers. Is there a chance of a placement year? First off, what is a placement year? Put simply, it is the chance to spend one of your degree years studying at a partner university in another country. You will still be on track to complete your studies but will have had that privilege of being able to spend one of those years in a different country, enjoying a different culture and way of life.
2. Teach English Abroad at a Camp or School
Summers can be long when you are a student, so why not take them as an opportunity to spread your wings and bring your skills to people in another part of the world? There are plenty of camps and summer school across the globe who need English language tutors and teachers, you might be a perfect candidate for taking up such a role.
3. Study Abroad
Rather than settling for a placement year, what about applying to universities abroad for your entire degree program? More and more people are doing this these days and having a full college experience in a different country can be really rewarding, not to mention you can apply for all kinds of grants and scholarships to make sure it is as cost friendly as possible.
4. Do It for Charity
The great thing about universities is that they have lots of different charity partners that they like to work with. Why not look into this and get yourself involved with a project that could send you abroad with some classmates for charity purposes? There are plenty of great causes that always welcome and accept students who want to make a difference whilst seeing another part of the world.
5. Utilise Your Friends
One of the best things about university is making lots of new friends, and there is a good chance that at least a few of these new friends will have homes abroad that you can get a free holiday out of every now and then!
