I held the fig firmly between my fingers, hanging onto it like a prized possession. I watched through the goggles in awe as the fish nibbled away at it, their scales shining in the crystal clear water as the sun shone down. I even tried holding it between my teeth, they still kept coming. I am in the Montanejos hot springs, Valencia and on a tour with Valtournative, who specialise in these types of alternative tours.

The Silk Road abounds in places and things worth visiting. For many miles, the Silk Road trip is an unforgettable and fantastic experience just because of the areas that are visited, but also because they are part of a historic place where in the past the great and famous merchants traded their goods. It’s hard to single out only ten places to visit during silk road travel, but I will try to tell you those who made my journey to me to stay forever in my thoughts, situations that every time I remember I get an unstoppable desire to pack up and go again to the Silk Road journey.

Portugal, a place I will always remember as the country that really surprised me. From the kindness of locals in rural areas to the hipster vibe of Lisbon. The beautiful beaches to the wild winds. It is also the place where I met up with friends that I have met around the world. Portugal is most definitely not an expensive country to travel in, in fact, things are pretty cheap in Portugal compared to the rest of Western Europe. But I certainly made things even cheaper by travelling around Portugal in my Nissan X-trail camping car.
