I had never met a bed bug until one afternoon in Kuala Lumpur. In the past eight years of extensive travels, I had heard many a tale about the terror of bed bugs. How they had ruined whole trips! And more seriously how difficult it is to get rid of bed bugs.
For those who haven’t really heard about bed bugs but don’t fancy a bug in the bed, they are more than just a harmless bug. They are the back packers nemesis.

As the year of 2016 is over, I thought that this is the perfect opportunity to reflect on my travels for 2016 and what I have been doing. This year has been a great year for me in terms of travel. Not only have I now visited my 62nd country, I also took the massive steps of quitting my job and leaving my home to take a life of a travelling nomad.
So I thought I would write this post about my travels for 2016, where I have been this year, and the photos I took from each place. Shall we get started?

Many cars slowed down to take a look but few had the courage to stop. We were unsure if it was that they couldn’t speak English or if they were just not going that far. Some people did stop but decided not to give us a lift as they were not going to the exact place that we were going. Unable to communicate that they could take us as far as they were going, we had to let them go. If you are in South Korea, you need to read this hitchhiker’s guide to South Korea.
We learnt a lot in the two days of hitchhiking 350 km down the east coast of South Korea. Therefore, I have decided to put together some tips for others planning on hitchhiking in South Korea.
